Sportsmans Charity Dinner – NRL Cowboys House

At Ben Campbell Building Group we regularly find different ways to give back to the communities we work amongst.

We have chosen Cowboys House for our Charity for their amazing work they do for indigenous children in communities. Cowboys house provides supported accommodation for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from some of North Queensland’s most remote and educationally disadvantaged communities, enabling them to access quality secondary education opportunities in Townsville.

On 28th June 2019 Ben Campbell Building Group held the Sportsman’s Charity Dinner at the NRL Cowboys House in Townsville.

The night was a huge success, with many commenting what a great time they had and it being ‘much needed’ after a very busy time post the flooding event in Townsville.

In attendance supporting the charity were Ben Campbell Building Group employees, trades, suppliers, insurance company and loss adjuster contacts and representatives from the Tweed Seagulls. Ben would like to thank all of the businesses that supported the night by purchasing a ticket, or a table to enable staff to come along and enjoy a night away from the desk. “We also invited a few of our customers who we have been rebuilding their homes to show our appreciation of the situation they are in,” Ben Campbell said.

On the night, sporting guests included Billy Moore, Dale Shearer, Matt Bowen, and Vern Daisy, who were interviewed by our fantastic MC for the night. Everyone enjoyed listening to the insights from all about their careers. We also had one of the students of the boys house, Krystian, come to the stage to answer some questions about what it is like to be a part of this fantastic facility. Whilst at the house, Krystian is completing his secondary schooling and also beginning an apprenticeship as an Electrician. He is a testament to the work that all the staff are doing for the children at the boys and girls house.

An auction with 10 items was held on the night including State of Origin Jerseys, a Titans Jersey, a painting of Johnathan Thurston and tickets to the V8’s in Townsville. All items were purchased helping to raise extra money on the night.

We are very pleased to have all proceeds from the night go to this wonderful charity. The cheque will be presented to the Cowboys House in the coming weeks.
